Daniel Nogueira-Budny is a dual U.S.-Brazilian national who joined the Bank in 2014. His areas of expertise include fiscal and administrative decentralization, digital governance, and citizen engagement. Prior to joining the IEG, Daniel worked on issues of public sector reform and public financial management in Angola, Liberia, Mozambique, and Sierra Leone.

His professional background includes the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Center for Development Studies (CENDES) at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). Daniel holds a Bachelor's degree from Columbia University, a Master's degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, and a PhD in Governance from the University of Texas at Austin. He has published in the fields of decentralization, political parties and party systems, and good governance.
