The World Bank Group in the Kyrgyz Republic


This evaluation report was prepared by a team from the Independent Evaluation Group led by Melissa Rekas Metz (senior economist). The team included Konstantin Atanesyan, April Connelly, Corky De Asis, Asita De Silva, Lev Freinkman, Alisher Khamidov, Sengphet Lattanavong, Lilia Saetova, Samjhana Thapa, and Salman Zaheer. Patricia Acevedo, Dao Anh Nguyen, and Aselya Asambaeva provided administrative support.

The report was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Jeffrey Allen Chelsky (manager, Economic Management and Country Programs) and Oscar Calvo-Gonzalez (director, Human Development and Economic Management), and under the overall direction of Alison Evans (Director-General, Evaluation). During the last phase of the evaluation, Carmen Nonay oversaw the work as acting director, Human Development and Economic Management, and Oscar Calvo-Gonzalez provided overall direction as Independent Evaluation Group acting Director-General.

Peer reviewers for this evaluation were Christian Josz, former International Monetary Fund mission chief for the Kyrgyz Republic; David Siegel, assistant professor of social sciences and political science at St. Joseph’s University, New York; and Askar Sydykov, executive director of the International Business Council, a private sector association in the Kyrgyz Republic.
