Xiaolun Sun joined IEG in 2012. Since then, she has conducted a variety of corporate, country, and project evaluations, as well as a variety of learning products. She led the Results and Performance of the World Bank Group 2014 with a special theme on the Bank Group’s approach on the MDGs. As the Coordinator of IEG Review of the CPS Completion Reports, she led the development of the Harmonized Methodology for CPSCR and CPSCR Reviews in collaboration with OPCS and IFC, and produced a series of learning notes on key issues in Bank Group country strategies. She led IEG’s country program evaluations of Bolivia and Cabo Verde, and a synthesis report from IEG evaluative evidence on IDA to inform the first replenishment meeting for IDA18. She also participated in knowledge-based country program evaluation where she led the assessment of the Bank’s knowledge work in China, Malaysia and Thailand. Currently, she is working on a synthesis paper on the Bank’s experience with DPLs with the Deferred Drawdown Option, based on six in-depth project evaluations of DPL DDOs and Cat DDOs that she has recently completed.

Xiaolun joined the World Bank Group as a young professional in 1999 and worked as a country economist in the ECA region and a senior investment policy officer in IFC. In 2007-09, she went on staff exchange to the Agence Française de Développement, helping the French aid agency develop its private sector development program and promoting further collaboration between the Bank Group and AFD.

Xiaolun holds a PhD in economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
