Empowering citizens to participate actively in decisions that affect them is critical to ensuring local ownership. Citizen voice and participation promotes better decision-making by governments and others, increases accountability, and leads to better public services. To this end, the World Bank Group has committed to incorporate beneficiary feedback in all its projects by 2018. The Bank Group has also committed to help build sustainable national systems for citizen engagement (CE) with governments and the private sector.

As part of its mandate to evaluate the World Bank Group, the Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) has started conducting an evaluation of the World Bank Group’s support for citizen engagement – “Engaging Citizens for Better Development Results”.

The purpose of this survey is to seek your feedback on expectations and opinions around World Bank Group citizen engagement efforts.

We would like to ask that you provide as many details to support your answers as possible, including references to specific projects and cases.

Your responses are confidential. The data are evaluated in the aggregates only. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us by email.

The survey will be open for a period of two months from April 19, 2017 to July 31, 2017.

(The survey is now closed.  Stay tuned for more information about the evaluation and survey results).
