Unfortunately the systems costs of new vacine introduction can be 30-50% of the vaccine cost istelf (GAVI board papers and analysis 2005-2008), that can leave the countries with a substantial long term mortage. before deciding on new vaccine introduction and spending time and resources for advocacyu for relatively expensive technologies, more lives could be saved with less investment by turning to boring old early and exclusive breast feeding, links with water and sanitation, integrated approaches to demand side of primary health care. More complex than the magic bullet' of vaccines but more cost effective?</div> <drupal-render-placeholder callback="comment.lazy_builders:renderLinks" arguments="0=831&1=default&2=en&3=" token="UYHXCoxIwhvRWJ447GwvAN1g_ziUjdTin9SzwEoGjUo"></drupal-render-placeholder></div> </article><article data-comment-user-id="0" id="comment-832" class="js-comment"><mark class="hidden" data-comment-timestamp="1438333560"></mark><footer><article></article><p class="author">Submitted by <span>Rasmus Heltberg</span> on Fri, 07/31/2015 - 05:06</p> <span class="perma-link"> <a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/comment/832#comment-832" hreflang="en">Permalink</a></span> </footer><div> <h5><a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/comment/832#comment-832" class="permalink" rel="bookmark" hreflang="en"></a></h5> <div class="field field--name-comment-body field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field--item">Thanks for your comment. To me, it is not a question of either vaccines or other basic public health interventions like those you mention: public health systems should be able to do both. In fact, there are synergies since vaccinations often bring families into contact with the health system and this way can trigger other preventative services. </div> <drupal-render-placeholder callback="comment.lazy_builders:renderLinks" arguments="0=832&1=default&2=en&3=" token="HT5lSfLUXfCy_-SXBCyFR2nym2nlnN0bF53ldwxWHQs"></drupal-render-placeholder></div> </article><h2>Add new comment</h2> <drupal-render-placeholder callback="comment.lazy_builders:renderForm" arguments="0=node&1=202&2=field_comments&3=comment" token="LwfyNSpem-F7vgAqkTc1qePM9hGs_mg_U6FCHZOGC48"></drupal-render-placeholder></section> Tue, 14 Oct 2014 15:17:40 +0000 ieg_admin 202 at https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/blog/world-bank-group-partnerships-moving-forward-together#comments Knowledge-Based Country Programs https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/evaluations/knowledge-based-country-programs <div data-history-node-id="1140" class="view-mode-rss ds-1col clearfix"> <div class="field field--name-field-related field--type-entity-reference field--label-above"> <div class="field--label">Related Reports</div> <div class="field--items"> <div class="field--item"><a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/evaluations/learning-and-results" hreflang="en">Learning and Results in World Bank Operations: How the Bank Learns</a></div> <div class="field--item"><a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/evaluations/learning-results-wb-operations2" hreflang="en">Learning and Results in World Bank Operations: Toward a New Learning Strategy</a></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-keywords field--type-entity-reference field--label-above"> <div class="field--label">Keywords</div> <div class="field--items"> <div class="field--item"><a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/taxonomy/term/904" hreflang="en">knowledge based</a></div> <div class="field--item"><a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/taxonomy/term/465" hreflang="en">knowledge</a></div> <div class="field--item"><a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/taxonomy/term/905" hreflang="en">knowledge-based</a></div> <div class="field--item"><a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/taxonomy/term/518" hreflang="en">country program</a></div> <div class="field--item"><a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/taxonomy/term/906" hreflang="en">sharing</a></div> <div class="field--item"><a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/taxonomy/term/907" hreflang="en">sharing knowledge</a></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-organization-tags field--type-entity-reference field--label-above"> <div class="field--label">Organization Tags</div> <div class="field--items"> <div class="field--item"><a href="https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org/taxonomy/term/841" hreflang="en">WB</a></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field--name-field-evaluation-old-nid field--type-string field--label-above"> <div class="field--label">Evaluation old nid</div> <div class="field--item">5763</div> </div> </div> Wed, 24 Jul 2013 14:18:27 +0000 ieg_admin 1140 at https://ieg.worldbankgroup.org
