Poverty Reduction

Approximately 1.4 billion people in the world today live in extreme poverty—they survive on less than $1.25 a day. The overarching goal of the World Bank Group is to reduce poverty in developing countries. World Bank Group activities focus on expanding economic opportunities, enhancing human development, mitigating socioeconomic and environmental risks, and improving governance and public sector effectiveness. Independent evaluation of these efforts play a critical role in helping the organization achieve it's mission to reduce global poverty.
