Bank lending in two key areas - rural development and industrialization - are the focus. The report also considers two aspects of Bank activity in the industrial sector. First, it examines the nature and results of Bank policy advice to three rapidly industrializing Asian countries: India, Indonesia, and Korea; and then assesses the Bank's support for on-lending to small and medium-size industries, using case studies for Ecuador, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
