Caroline Heider
Caroline has strong leadership, management and evaluation skills. She uses her expertise to balance accountability and learning purposes of evaluations as a tool to draw lessons from experience to make better informed decisions about future directions and actions. She inspires her team to plan rigorously to ensure sound methodology, use innovative approaches in the conduct of evaluations, and think of clients’ information needs when drafting evaluation reports. In all of her jobs, Caroline collaborated with and supported peers, and in her supervisory roles coached and fostered the knowledge of her team members and the team as a whole.
Caroline is a life-time member of the International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS) and a member of the American Evaluation Association. In the past, she has been a member of the Australasian Evaluation Society and served a 2-year term as vice-chair of the UN Evaluation Group.
 | Caroline joined the Independent Evaluation Group of the World Bank Group on October 1, 2011. She reports directly to the WBG’s Boards of Executive Directors through the Committee on Development Effectiveness. Caroline has 25 years of international experience, the majority of which in evaluation. Before joining IEG, Caroline headed the Office of Evaluation at the World Food Programme. She has extensive evaluation experience in international development and humanitarian assistance and experience in related areas of strategic planning, management audit, and program design. She worked with six multilateral organizations. |
