Improving World Bank Group Development Results Through Excellence in Evaluation
IEG is charged with evaluating the activities of IBRD and IDA (the World Bank), the work of IFC in private sector development, and MIGA's guarantee projects and services. The Director-General of IEG reports directly to the World Bank Group's Board of Directors. The goals of evaluation are to provide an objective assessment of the results of the Bank Group’s work and to identify and disseminate lessons learned from experience.

Evaluation Week 2013 / IEG Good Practice Awards
The Independent Evaluation Group of the World Bank Group hosted its sixth Evaluation Week March 18 – 21, 2013. The purpose of this yearly event is to share knowledge on the World Bank Group’s evaluation best practices and lessons among a variety of audiences. This year, the week featured multiple “how to” learning sessions, luncheon panel discussions, debates, a poster session and the IEG Good Practice Awards Ceremony, recognizing strong performance in design, implementation, and/or monitoring & evaluation that contribute to greater development effectiveness.
